The initiative Links with History: discovering the historic houses of Ribeira Lima, coordinated by the VINCULUM project in partnership with the Municipality of Ponte Lima, Ponte de Lima Secondary School, TURIHAB – Historic Housing Tourism Association and PATRIMONIUM, was selected as a finalist in the 3rd edition of the Iberian Heritage Awards 2025, promoted by Patrimonio.pt / Spira — revitalização patrimonial with the aim of ‘distinguishing good practices in the Iberian cultural heritage sector’.
This initiative took place in September 2024 and allowed 18 historic manors in Ribeira Lima to be opened to the public for two weekends. The visits were guided by the owners of the houses together with students from Ponte de Lima Secondary School. Around 1,500 visitors were counted over the four days.
The application will now be presented and defended publicly before the jury, consisting of Margarida Alçada, Enrique Saiz and Justin Albert, on 4 December, as part of AR&PA – Iberian Cultural Heritage Biennial 2025, at the Olga Cadaval Cultural Centre in Sintra. The VINCULUM team, coordinated by Maria de Lurdes Rosa, has prepared a video presentation of the initiative ‘Links with History: discovering the historic houses of Ribeira Lima’, which can be viewed below.
This is yet another public distinction for VINCULUM, which has already been awarded the YERUN Open Science Award 2024 and an Honourable Mention in the European Union Prize for Citizen Science 2025.
