History is at School! — IHC’s school programme for 2026/2027
Oct 12, 2026 | Highlights, News

The IHC’s History in the Public Sphere Programme is relaunching the A História Está na Escola! [History is at School!] project in the 2026/2027 academic year; this time, it will not have a defined thematic focus, but will instead be tailored to the specific needs of each partner school.
The aim of this project is to bring historical research closer to school communities, transforming the classroom into a space for knowledge, critical reflection, and debate. The aim is to introduce students to historical research and the tools of the historian’s trade; to explore, in an interactive manner, fundamental topics in the history of Portugal and global history; to provide training for students and teachers on the uses of the past, memory, citizenship ,and governance; and to promote engagement with historiographical research methodologies.
With two possible forms of collaboration – thematic sessions and workshop training – we invite anyone interested to contact the IHC via email at historiapublica.ihc@fcsh.unl.pt. Full details of the project can be found in this document (in Portuguese).
