Yvette Santos wins Fulbright Grant
May 31, 2021 | News
Yvette Santos won the Fulbright / Camões Institute Grant for Professors and Researchers with a PhD for the academic year 2021-2022.
The IHC researcher will do a stay of five months at Brown University, in Providence (USA), where she will analyse the repatriation process, during the interwar period, from New Bedford, where the Portuguese community has a significant presence. From this analysis, the historian wants to understand how Portugal, as a sending country, positioned itself regarding the return of its emigrants
According to Yvette Santos, this is an important step towards the internationalisation of her research, enriching the studies she has been developing about Portuguese emigration, adding the USA as a case study (besides Brazil and France).
In 2021, Fulbright Portugal awarded a total of 56 grants (41 to Portuguese and 15 to Americans) of different types and in areas as diverse as history, biology or aerospace engineering.
