Práticas da História has new Editorial Director
Jul 2, 2020 | News

Pedro Martins is the new Editorial Director of the journal Práticas da História – Journal on Theory, Historiography and Uses of the Past, replacing José Neves, who had held the position since the publication’s foundation in 2015. A researcher at the Institute of Contemporary History (IHC), Martins received his PhD in 2016 from the University of Lucerne and from the NOVA University of Lisbon, with a thesis dedicated to representations of the Middle Ages in the Portuguese context (1890-1947).
The Editorial Board of the journal was also renewed, with the entry of Inês Nascimento Rodrigues (researcher at the Center for Social Studies at the University of Coimbra), José Guedes (researcher at the History Center of the University of Lisbon), Margarida Rendeiro (researcher at CHAM — Centre for the Humanities and professor at Lusíada University), and Sandra Ataíde Lobo (researcher at CHAM).
On the Board remain José Neves (researcher at the IHC and professor at NOVA FCSH), Elisa Lopes da Silva (associated researcher at the IHC and managing editor of the publication), Joaquim Gafeira (researcher at Institute of Medieval Studies), José Miguel Ferreira (researcher at the Institute of Social Sciences (ICS) at the University of Lisbon), Rui Lopes (researcher at the IHC), and Matheus Serva Pereira (researcher at the ICS).
Práticas da História is a peer-reviewed academic journal published at NOVA FCSH with the support of the IHC and CHAM. It aims to promote “discussions on historical theory, historiography and the uses of the past”, giving “equal importance to research relating the practice of history with other domains of the humanities and to works debating history in the context of the social sciences”.
