IHC collaborates in exhibition on the history of Amadora
May 15, 2024 | News

Joana Dias Pereira and Gil Gonçalves were the scientific commissioners and authors of the texts for the exhibition “Amadora, Primeiro Município de Abril” [Amadora, First Municipality of April], which will be inaugurated on Thursday 16 May at the Casal da Falagueira Museum Centre (Amadora).
The exhibition illustrates the development of the territory and the population before 25 April, the different expressions of resistance to the dictatorship and its repression. It also evokes the social and political mobilisation that marked the revolutionary period and how the aspiration to elevate Amadora to a municipality at this time was realised through a broad process of popular participation.
The initiative was part of the programme of commemorations for the 50th anniversary of 25 April organised by Amadora Town Council and the IHC. With free admission, it can be visited until 4 May 2025.
