White Paper on Migration takes Victor Pereira to Dublin
Feb 11, 2025 | News

Historian Victor Pereira joined anthropologists José Mapril and Sónia Ferreira, from CRIA — NOVA FCSH, on a research mission to EPIC – The Irish Emigration Museum in Dublin. The main aim of the visit was to gather information that will be used to draw up a White Paper on Migration, to be produced in the context of the IN2PAST Associated Laboratory.
This visit was part of the work of surveying and studying museums dedicated to migration and made it possible to consolidate the research on EPIC, the museum’s exhibition approaches, its history and process — from the basic ideas to their realisation. The team also had the opportunity to interview Nathan Mannion, EPIC’s Director of Exhibitions and Programmes.
Opening in 2016, EPIC was created to ‘the role migration plays in informing how we define who we are and the importance of the Irish diaspora in the cultural, political and economic development of both Ireland and the communities they settled in’.
