Jul 10, 2020 | News
Today we launched the project “Memória COVID” [COVID Memory], which aims to document the ongoing pandemic of COVID-19 through personal testimonies about how people how people are living these extraordinary times and what are its effects on Portuguese society.
As stated on the website, the project aims to “create an online archive and, later, an open access collection (a repository) that can help us reflect on how the pandemic is being experienced in Portugal, in its various dimensions , from private spaces to public spaces, from quarantine to deconfinement, from the disease to a cure ”.
This initiative is being led by health historian Helena da Silva, who coordinates this project after dedicating herself to the study of health care during and after the Great War; it has also counted on the technical support of the IHC’s Digital Humanities Lab.
With this launch, we are calling for contributions in the form of digital content, such as photographs, posters, sounds, videos, personal stories or diaries that reveal the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in Portugal. To tell your story, follow this link.
The project is also on Facebook, where results will be disseminated over the next few months.
