IHC in solidarity with Mozambique
Dec 13, 2019 | News

Within the framework of the social responsibility assumed by the IHC and its fundamental mission towards research and education, the institute joined the campaign “Somos Moçambique”, which aims to raise funds to promote the resilience of schools and communities and reduction of the disaster risk in the Beira region, most affected by cyclone Idai.
This campaign is a concerted intervention between the NGOs Fundação Gonçalo da Silveira, FEC, and VIDA, co-financed by Camões IP. The main tasks to be implemented with the funds raised are the reconstruction of basic education infrastructures (including classrooms and sanitation); the implementation of resettlement and family registration; and updating the diagnosis of necessities and the emergency plan for the region.
Thus, IHC encourages all people to contribute to this collective effort, at a time when other organizations are starting to withdraw from affected areas, leaving communities without support. You can do so through the account announced on the campaign website. IHC’s goal is to sponsor the rebuilding of several classrooms, with an estimated cost of 130 euros per room.
