NOVA grants Fernando Rosa the title of Professor Emeritus
Oct 16, 2019 | News

Historian Fernando Rosas was granted the title of Professor Emeritus by NOVA’s Rector, João Sàágua. Professor Rosas was one of the founders of the IHC and its former President, and a promoter of the field of contemporary history at the NOVA School of Social Sciences and Humanities (NOVA FCSH), with an emphasis on the studies about the Estado Novo regime.
The rectorial order, published in the Diário da República on 4 October, states that “his scientific relevance as a pedagogue, communicator, and researcher justifies the fundamental role he has had — and still has — in the affirmation of an historiographical school dedicated to the study of the 20th century. ”
In an email to IHC researchers, Pedro Aires Oliveira welcomes this distinction and the reference to the IHC. Fernando Rosas was the first professor to receive this honour at NOVA FCSH, which is reserved for “full, retired or jubilated professors whose contribution to the activity of their organic unit is recognized as being of particular relevance”.
