Daniel Freire Santos
Biography
With a degree in History in 2017 (NOVA FCSH) and a master’s degree in Museology and Museography in 2021 (FBAUL), my academic career has always been guided by an interest in the field we call Cultural History, with a special focus on the Contemporary Era. In 2018, I decided to combine my academic interests with my professional activity, and since then I have worked in several museums. The tasks I have carried out in this field have involved a wide range of areas, from historical research to guided tours, from the development of exhibition and educational programmes to archival processing and cataloguing.
In 2021, together with other colleagues, I started the ‘Museu Tricolor’ project. This independent, informal, non-profit project, supported by the vision of football fans, aims to lead to the future physical implementation of a museum that intertwines the history of the sports club known as “Estrela da Amadora” with that of the surrounding communities.
I am currently developing my doctoral thesis, entitled ‘Vou à bola! Culturas Adeptas, Economia Política e Estado na História do Futebol em Portugal (1910-2020)‘ [I’m going to the game! Fan Cultures, Political Economy and the State in the History of Football in Portugal (1910-2020)], as part of my PhD in History at NOVA FCSH. I am also a doctoral researcher at IHC — NOVA FCSH / IN2PAST.
