Paulo Catrica was the curator of the exhibition “A Revolução em Marcha: Os Posters do PREC, 1974-1975” [The revolution in motion: PREC posters, 1974-1975], which opened on Friday 19 April at the National Library of Portugal. The initiative is one of many marking the 50th anniversary of 25 April 1974.
As the curator explains, “the mass production and pasting of posters, particularly in 1974 and 1975, was the preferred instrument for affirming and consolidating the new political and social protagonists, political parties, trade unions, residents’ and workers’ committees, civic and cultural associations, etc.”. In this exhibition, Catrica “intends to map a series of events, issues, political debates and expectations from the revolutionary period in an anomic way”.
The exhibition will be on display in the Reference Room until 21 September, with free admission.
