Albérico Afonso receives the Setúbal Medal of Honour
Sep 17, 2019 | News
Albérico Afonso was honored last Sunday with the Setúbal Medal of Honor, in the Cultural Activities class, for his dedication to research and teaching. At the ceremony, the historian highlighted “gratitude for the recognition of his work as a teacher and researcher” and added that the medal is “also an incentive to continue to do more and better”.
The Honorary Medals are intended to distinguish the activity developed in the municipality of Setúbal by personalities and institutions “particularly noticeable in the local history, in a myriad of areas, at some point or continuously”, reads a press release from the municipality.
In the profile of Alberico Afonso, the sadino municipality highlights the vast published work on Setúbal, his position as professor Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal and researcher at IHC, as well as one of his most recent research works on the favorite places of Zeca Afonso in Setúbal (to be published in mid-October).
José (Zeca) Afonso was actually another of the 33 personalities and institutions that were honored on Bocage Day — 15 September —, the Setúbal municipal holiday.
