Summary:

A call is now open for the award of one (1) research fellowship for a Bachelor’s degree holder, within the scope of the project KNOW.AFRICA — Knowledge Networks in Nineteenth-Century Africa: A Digital Humanities Approach to Colonial Encounters and Local Knowledge in Portuguese Expedition Narratives (1853–1888) (ref. 2022.01599.PTDC; https://doi.org/10.54499/2022.01599.PTDC), funded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT)/MCTES – State Budget.

Work plan:
The work plan, to be carried out within the KNOW.AFRICA team, will consist of:

– Research knowledge in History of Science and Technology – networks, production, and national and international circulation of knowledge;
– Georeferencing and compilation of 19th-century itineraries to Angola (namely F. Welwitsch, Capelo & Ivens, and H. Carvalho);
– Support in the construction of the Database;
– Development of the project website page (https://www.knowafrica.uevora.pt/) including a Dynamic Map.

Scientific field: History; Digital Humanities; History of Science and Technology.

Supervisor: Sara Albuquerque

Monthly stipend: €1040.98
