Biography

Born in Madrid. He studied in the Spanish capital, Lisbon and Barcelona. Completed all his primary and secondary education in the Spanish education system and went on to gain a degree in Modern Languages and Literatures from the School of Arts and Humanities of the University of Lisbon (2000), with a one-year course at the Universitat de Barcelona under the Erasmus Programme. Postgraduate degree in Iberian and Ibero-American Studies, with 17 points (2003/2005), and European Doctorate in Comparative Literary Studies with “Very Good” unanimously in the defence of the Dissertation (written and defended in Spanish and Portuguese), entitled “Carabelas portuguesas en el Callejón del gato: la representación de lo ibérico en modo grotesco esperpéntico en As Naus, de António Lobo Antunes” (2018), both by the NOVA School of Social Sciences and Humanities.

Since 2000, he has been teaching at several Portuguese universities and at the Instituto Cervantes in Lisbon. Currently, and since 2009, he is a lecturer at NOVA. His teaching areas are languages (Spanish), literatures and cultures (Iberian and Ibero-American) and translation (between Portuguese and Spanish languages). Since 1994, he has regularly translated texts from the social sciences and humanities, including literature, theatre and essays. Among the various works he has published, the recent book Imperiales esperpentos ibéricos (Edizione Ca Foscari, Italy), peer-reviewed and open access, stands out.
