Jul 29, 2019 | News

For the first time, the IHC will participate in the programme Science in the Summer, a major annual science outreach initiative promoted by the National Agency for Scientific and Technological Culture — Ciência Viva.
The Institute proposes a set of four thematic tours conducted by in-house researchers: Lisboa das Águas, about the spaces and personalities historically essential for the water supply of the city of Lisbon; A Cidade e as Guerras, where participants will visit spaces related to Portugal’s strategic relations with the rest of the world to the impact of war on the lives of people and the country; Lisboa Revolucionária, where visitor will be lead through spaces that remember moments of rupture of Portugal’s recent past; and Lisboa Boémia, about the cafes, theatres, and cinemas that were spaces of debate and circulation of progressive ideas.
This initiative is one of the activities of the IHC History Lab, an IHC priority in the realm of social responsibility and knowledge transmission.
The Science in the Summer programme runs between the 15th of July and the 15th of September. All activities have free admission, but registration is mandatory (at this link).
