Detalhes do Evento

A conversation between António Pedro Pita and Luís Trindade about the relationship between painting and literature: are artistic creations a vehicle for historic knowledge? A Modern Mediations event.

Modern Mediations: The library of Álvaro Lapa

Modern Mediations is an IHC Thematic Line that examines how artistic production can influence the way in which History is constructed and the relationship between these two disciplines. At Culturgest, the project challenges historians to discuss this theme, based on the exhibitions presented in its galleries.

António Pedro Pita and Luís Trindade talk about the relationship between painting and literature, clearly evident in the series Cadernos de Escritores [Writers’ Notebooks], developed by Álvaro Lapa between 1976 and 2005. The exhibition Lendo Resolve-se: Álvaro Lapa e a Literatura serves as a pretext for us to rethink the historical nature of a work of art and the way in which artistic creation can act as a vehicle for historical knowledge.

Free admission, subject to availability. Tickets are available on the day of the event from 6PM at the ticket-office.
