The exhibition dedicated to the history and legacies of Amílcar Cabral, which was in Lisbon between March and June this year and was curated by José Neves and Leonor Pires Martins, was inaugurated yesterday at the Presidential Palace in Bissau. This time, researcher Victor Barros was the host of the inaugural visit, which was attended by the Presidents of the Republic and the Prime Ministers of Guinea-Bissau and Portugal.
In a press release, the Portuguese Embassy in Guinea-Bissau highlighted that “the pieces included in the exhibition are an opportunity to honour Amílcar Cabral, an outstanding and multifaceted figure of the 20th century, as a political leader, agronomist, and cultural activist, who contributed decisively to the independence of the Republic of Guinea-Bissau and the Republic of Cape Verde and to the restoration of democratic rule in Portugal.”
As in Lisbon, the initiative came from the Executive Committee of the Mission Structure for the Commemorations of the 50th Anniversary of the 25th of April Revolution, now also with the support of Camões, Instituto da Cooperação e da Língua, I.P., the Portuguese Embassy in Bissau and the Guinean authorities. The architectural project was once again by Miguel Fevereiro & Ricardo Santos Arquitetos and the design by Vera Tavares.
