Irene Pimentel awarded by the Portuguese Academy of History

Nov 17, 2021 | News

The Portuguese Academy of History once again awarded a researcher from the IHC with the History of Europe Prize — Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation: Irene Flunser Pimentel, for her book Holocausto [Holocaust], published by Temas e Debates in 2020.

In this work, the historian of the IHC proposed to “unravel confusions, contributing to a greater knowledge of the Shoá, and also of Portugal’s role in this terrible event, based on my own research, but also on the profuse bibliography on the subject, in general, but also, and particularly, in relation to Portugal”.

In the 2020 and 2019 editions, this prize had already been awarded to IHC researchers — Isabel Baltazar and Fernando Rosas, respectively. The Calouste Gulbenkian History Prizes have a monetary value of 2000 euros and are intended to reward works of recognized merit in the scope of “Modern and Contemporary History of Portugal”, “History of Portugal’s Presence in the World”, and “History of Europe”.

The various awards from the Portuguese Academy of History will be delivered on 8 December 2021, at the Academy’s headquarters, in Lisbon.
