Partnership between the IHC and the Municipal Museum of Loulé receives award
May 27, 2019 | News
The Portuguese Association of Museology (APOM) awarded the 2019 Research Prize to the Municipal Museum of Loulé for the work done in partnership with the IHC for the exhibition “Os trabalhadores forçados portugueses no III Reich e os Louletanos no Sistema Concentracionário nazi” [Portuguese Forced Labourers in the III Reich and the Louletanos in the Nazi Concentration System].
This exhibition resulted from the research carried out by a team led by Fernando Rosas, under the project “Portuguese Forced Labourers in the Third Reich“, funded by the German foundation EVZ – Erinnerung, Verantwortung, Zukunft (Memory, Responsibility, Future).
In addition to the exhibition, the IHC also collaborated with the Loulé City Hall and Secondary School, which allowed for the first time a group of Portuguese students to travel to Mauthausen to the anniversary ceremony of the liberation of the Austrian concentration camp where there were also prisoners from Algarve.
The exhibition, inaugurated in June 2018 at the Duarte Pacheco Memorial House in Loulé, will be open until December.
