Biography
Ângela Salgueiro has a degree in History, a master’s degree in Contemporary History and a PhD in Contemporary History from the NOVA School of Social Sciences and Humanities, with the thesis “Ciência e Universidade na I República” [Science and University in the First Republic] (2015). She has been an integrated researcher at the Institute of Contemporary History since 2007.
She has been part of several national and international research projects, among which she highlights “Dinámicas de renovación educativa y científica en las aulas de bachillerato (1900-1936): una perspectiva ibérica” [Dynamics of educational and scientific renewal in baccalaureate classrooms (1900-1936): an Iberian perspective — HAR2014-54073-P], coordinated by Leoncio López-Ocón; “História da Ciência Viva – Agência Nacional para a Cultura Científica e Tecnológica (1996-2016)” [History of Ciência Viva – National Agency for Scientific and Technological Culture (1996-2016)], coordinated by Maria Fernanda Rollo; ““História do Instituto Camões. Da Junta de Educação Nacional ao Instituto Camões (1929-2009)” [History of the Camões Institute. From the Board of National Education to the Camões Institute (1929-2009)], coordinated by Maria Fernanda Rollo.
In 2016, she received the Mário Soares Foundation – EDP Award for her doctoral thesis “Ciência e Universidade na I República” [Science and University in the First Republic]. She is co-author of the books Em Nome da Ciência. Ciência Viva – Agência Nacional para a Cultura Científica e Tecnológica. 20 anos de História (1996-2016) [In the Name of Science. Ciência Viva – National Agency for Scientific and Technological Culture. 20 years of History (1996-2016)] (2017) and Ciência, Cultura e Língua em Portugal no século XX. Da Junta de Educação Nacional ao Instituto Camões [Science, Culture and Language in Portugal in the 20th century. From the Board of National Education to the Camões Institute] (2012).
