Biography
With a PhD in Sociology from the Institute of Social Sciences at the University of Lisbon, Alexandra Santos is a professor at IADE — European University and researcher at NOVA’s Institute of Contemporary History. She has a BA in History (Art History variant), from the NOVA School of Social Sciences and Humanities, and a master’s degree in Communication, Culture and Information Technologies from ISCTE-IUL.
She does interdisciplinary research in the areas of nationalism, post-colonial studies, history and literature of Angola, memory studies, philosophy of technology, and media studies. She is currently investigating gender representations in the Portuguese media. She is co-editor of Media and the Portuguese Empire (2017, Palgrave Macmillan) and author of Angola Imaginada (2019, Imprensa de Ciências Sociais).
