Summary:

The selected candidate will develop a doctoral thesis under the supervision of Arturo Zoffmann Rodriguez, within the scope of the STEXEU project (ERC StG), which investigates the history of states of exception in Europe between 1900 and 1939 and their impact on democracy. This scholarship holder will be responsible for the Italian case, focusing on the crisis of the liberal monarchy and the rise and/or consolidation of fascism in the period 1900-1939, employing the methodology of political and social history and carrying out systematic archival work with primary sources. Nevertheless, they will have the freedom to determine the specific approach and chronology of the thesis. The fellow is also expected to be actively and continuously involved in the project’s activities, fully integrating into the STEXEU team and the activities of the Institute of Contemporary History’s Advanced Studies Platform.

Duration: 12 months, starting on January 2026 (renewable until 48 months)

Monthly stipend: €1309,64
