The film Guido Guidi Lives in Hiding, a visual biography of Guido Guidi directed by Paulo Catrica, will have its world premiere at DocLisboa, as part of the Official Selection in the Heart Beat Section of the international film festival.
On the festival’s website, you can read that the film ‘delves into the life and creative process of Guido Guidi, a prominent name in contemporary photography, offering insights into his photographic philosophy and connecting the viewer to the secluded village near Cesena.’ They add that the documentary, in which the Italian photographer also participates, ‘unfolds a narrative that explores Guidi’s photographic journey and personal memories through a blend of his images, personal reflections, conversations, and explorations of his extensive archive’.
Paulo Catrica, himself a photographer, works as an historian at the Institute of Contemporary History. His photographic work is part of private and institutional art collections in Portugal, England, Spain, Finland, France, Germany, Brazil, Canada, and the USA. This is his first film. The premiere is scheduled for 20 October at Cinema São Jorge, followed by a talk with the director. During the festival, there will be a second screening on 26 October.
