Rita Luís joins the Entangled Media Histories network
Nov 8, 2023 | News
Researcher Rita Luís has been invited to join Entangled Media Histories (EMHIS), a research network for European media historians whose main aim is “to challenge the traditional blind spots in perspective and common methodological nationalism of media historical scholarship”.
Created in 2013 and based at Lund University (Sweden), EMHIS focuses on research and training, working to “to create an arena for transnational dialogue on the historical dimensions of transborder and transmedial flows through the use of the concept entangled history”. The Autumn EMHIS Lunch Webinar Series is currently taking place, in which Rita Luís also took part with a talk about television censorship of variety programmes in 1960s Portugal. The programme can be found here.
Rita Luís specialises in the history of the mass media in the context of 20th century Iberian dictatorships, and is developing a research project on the practice and daily life of Iberian censorship. She is also currently the coordinator of the IHC’s Research Group on Culture — Power, Mediations, and Arts.
