Pedro Martins
Biography
Pedro Martins is an integrated researcher at the Institute of Contemporary History. With a degree in History from NOVA FCSH, he completed a master’s degree in Contemporary History from the same school with a thesis on the history of beach tourism in Portugal (2011). In 2016, he defended his doctoral thesis, prepared in co-tutorship with the University of Lucerne, dedicated to representations of the Middle Ages in the Portuguese context (1890-1947). His research areas include the history of historiography and policies of memory, the history of tourism, and the history of child labour.
He is director of the journal Práticas da História. Journal on Theory, Historiography and Uses of the Past, launched in 2015.
