PhD programme coordinated by Fátima Nunes receives APOM Award

The PhD programme in History and Philosophy of Science – specialization in Museology, coordinated by the historian Maria de Fátima Nunes at the University of Évora, was distinguished with the Special Mention Prize of the Portuguese Association of Museology (APOM) 2022.
The award of the Prize to this doctoral programme, which focuses on collections and cultural heritage, shows how the History and Philosophy of Science have aroused a growing interest, both in strictly academic scopes and in various social contexts, from the political to the economic and the cultural, where decisions are strongly influenced and conditioned by technical-scientific developments.
The Prize was announced last Friday, 27 May, at a ceremony held at the Military Academy, in Lisbon, where the APOM jury highlighted institutions and personalities in the field of museology and Portuguese heritage in more than 30 categories. Several researchers from the IHC have already been recognised in the past, either for their research or for their direct intervention in Portuguese museums. This year, it was our educational mission that was distinguished.
