Foteini Vlachou honoured by the Revista de História da Arte
May 26, 2021 | News

The Revista de História da Arte just published an issue dedicated to the theme Life outside the canon – Hommage to Foteini Vlachou (1975-2017), that, as the title indicates, it is a tribute to the Greek researcher who worked at the Institute of Contemporary History and the Institute of Art History, Foteini Vlachou.
Joana Cunha Leal, Mariana Pinto dos Santos, and Begoña Farré Torras, editors of this issue, explained that the selected papers “draws them closer to Foteini’s long‑standing historiographical project” and to the network art in the periphery – life outside the canon, launched by Foteini in 2013. The seven papers, arising from the conference Art in the Periphery – Hommage to Foteini Vlachou (held in March 2019), are also joined by an essay by Béatrice Joyeux-Prunel.
“Foteini found life outside the canon, significantly contributing to change art historical established assumptions on the grounds of her interest in the presumably most ‘insignificant’ objects ever observed or in the deliberate non‑canonical approach to canonical objects”, they add.
The journal is available to read and download, in open access, on the Institute of Art History website.
