The Imprensa de História Contemporânea [Contemporary History Press] has launched a new collection of books, called Trânsitos [Transits], dedicated to the Portuguese translation of works originally published in foreign languages in the fields of History and Social Sciences and that focus on contemporaneity.
The first book, to be launched in April, is “Diamonds In The Rough”, by American historian Todd Cleveland. A book that “explores the lives of African workers in Angola’s diamond mines, from the start of activities in 1917 until the independence of the colony in 1975.”
The new collection of the IHC’s editorial seal was created with the aim of publishing innovative studies that have had a restricted access in the Portuguese academy and public space, aiming to contribute to the continuous renewal of knowledge in the publisher’s academic fields.
