IHC contributes to play about the fish canning industry
Nov 9, 2020 | News

Researcher João Pedro Santos was part of the research and creation team of the theatrical project “A Casa de Emília” [Emília’s House], promoted by Teatro Estúdio Fontenova and which opened on 6 November at the Luísa Todi Municipal Forum, in Setúbal.
Bringing together theater and music, the play was written by Luísa Monteiro and staged by José Mário Dias, proposing “to go back precisely to the hard working days of women in the fish canning industry in Setubal” and opening “the doors to the stories and stories of women almost born in factories, that made fish boxes their cradle. ”
In addition to the play, the research work, in which Jaime Pinho and Vanessa Amorim also collaborated, resulted in the publication of a book, which was released on 7 November and which includes the dramatic text, having the interviews with fish canning women from Setúbal as the starting point. The play will be on stage until 15 November.
