New CIPSH Chair on Digital Humanities in Education
Oct 16, 2020 | News

The IHC’s Digital Humanities Lab is one of the partners of the recently created CIPSH Chair on Digital Humanities in Education, approved by the International Council for Philosophy and Human Sciences, a non-governmental organization created by UNESCO that established this system of chairs “designed to highlight and encourage existing research networks of centres of research in the humanities and to attract greater attention to the humanities worldwide and enhanced recognition of their importance in contemporary society.”
This chair results from a partnership between NOVA FCSH, the Universidade Aberta and the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of University of Porto, involving researchers and projects from different countries. At NOVA FCSH, it will be led by Carlos Ceia, director of CETAPS – Center for English, Translation and Anglo-Portuguese Studies. In a statement from CETAPS, they say that “many other digital projects existing in the three partner institutions [like the Digital Humanities Lab] will work in an interdisciplinary way to promote their application to educational contexts at all levels.”
On 20 October, at 11:30 AM, the Chair will have a virtual inauguration live on YouTube, where, in addition to Carlos Ceia and others, Daniel Alves, the coordinator of the Digital Humanities Lab at IHC will also intervene. On the same day, the chair’s website will be launched.
