The exhibition Portugal et Luxembourg, pays d’espoir en temps de détresse [Portugal and Luxembourg – Countries of Hope in Difficult Times], curated by Margarida de Magalhães Ramalho at the invitation of Memoshoah Luxembourg, opened at the Neimenster Abbey, the main cultural center of the city of Luxembourg.
The exhibition is bilingual (French and Portuguese) and is structured in two parts, explains Margarida Ramalho: “One, related to the rise of Nazism and the exodus of hundreds of people, first to Luxembourg and, after the invasion of this country, to Portugal. The second part is related to the reverse movement, that is, the departure, in the 1970s, of hundreds of Portuguese who sought to escape poverty or colonial war. ”
The exhibition was commissioned under the scope of the Luxembourg presidency of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance and counts on the High Patronage of the President of the Portuguese Republic and the Grand Duke and Grand Duchess of Luxembourg. It will be open until 10 May, with free admission.
