Jul 30, 2019 | Uncategorized

The Institute of Contemporary History at the Universidade NOVA de Lisboa, Portugal, is pleased to invite proposals for its new research seminar on the colonial past and its historical legacies during the academic year 2019/2020.
The seminar will be a relaxed discussion forum, providing a welcoming environment for speakers to present their research at any stage of completion with a focus on the history of colonialism, decolonisation, and post-colonial societies in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. The seminar is open to researchers at any stage of their career. Interdisciplinary approaches are also welcome. The sessions will take place between October 2019 and June 2020 at the Institute’s premises, in Lisbon. Each session will feature a single presentation (between 20 and 30 minutes) or two speakers presenting on related topics (max. 40), which will be followed by Q&A.
Those interested in presenting are invited to send a provisional title and abstract (between 250 and 350 words), as well as a short CV or biographical note (no longer than 1 page), to marciagoncalves@fcsh.unl.pt by 30 September 2019. Proposals received after this date can only be considered if there are still schedule slots available. Any queries are welcome to the above-mentioned e-mail address.
