Rude Britannia: The golden age of British caricature
On the 26th of June, at 6PM, at the Bordalo Pinheiro Museum, in Lisbon, Professor Ian Haywood (University of Roehampton, London) will present the lecture “Rude Britannia: the golden age of British caricature“, where he will highlight the main authors and analyse the subjects and topics of British caricatures in the 18th and 19th centuries.
After the lecture, there will be a workshop abou the use of caricatures as historic sources — Working With Caricatures.

About the speaker:
Ian Haywood is the Director of the Centre for Research in Romanticism (University of Roehampton, London), President of the British Association for Romantic Studies and one of the coordinator of the Romantic Illustration Network. Among other books, he has authored Romanticism and Caricature (Cambridge University Press, 2013) and The Rise of Victorian Caricature (to be published in 2020).
