50 Years of 25 April at the IHC
Feb 2, 2024 | Highlights, News
In 2024, 50 years will be celebrated since the revolution of 25 April 1974, which put an end to 48 years of dictatorship in Portugal. The IHC couldn’t miss the call and so we are launching our first programme of scientific, educational, and cultural activities to mark this key milestone in Portugal’s history.
Since last year, the IHC has already started organising activities around this anniversary and will continue to do so until 2026, not forgetting events such as the independence of the Portuguese colonies and the approval of the Constitution.
The programme we are publishing today includes all the activities organised or co-organised by the IHC, as well as those in which we are partners in initiatives by other institutions. We highlight the “A Liberdade Está na Escola” [Freedom is in School] programme, launched in November 2023 and already underway. This “living” document will be updated as we add even more initiatives.
