New Exhibition about Health in World War I
Jul 22, 2019 | News
The exhibition From the Trenches to the Hospital: Portugal, Health and the Great War, curated by Helena da Silva and José Picas do Vale, will be inaugurated on the 29th of July, at the Santo António Hospital, in Porto.
The purpose of the exhibition is to use objects, photographs, and videos, to showcase the impact of World War I on health, from the point of view of technical and scientific advances, and from the human point of view, since many men returned from the front with physical and psychic traumas, and quickly fell into oblivion.
The exhibition is based on Helena da Silva’s research work under the project “Medical and Healthcare services in the First World War: the case of the Portuguese soldiers during and after the Great War (1914-1960)“, funded by the FCT funding through the programme Researcher FCT.
It will be open until the 29th of September, with free admission, every day, from 10am to 1pm and 2pm to 5pm.
