Tiago Baptista elected FIAF’s Secretary-General

Tiago Baptista, IHC researcher and Director of the National Archive of Moving Images (ANIM, Portuguese Cinematheque — Film Museum), was elected Secretary-General of the Executive Committee of the International Federation of Film Archives (FIAF) at the General Assembly held in Mexico City on 21 April.
FIAF gathers institutions from all over the world “dedicated to the preservation of and access to the world’s film heritage”. It was founded in Paris in 1938 by the French Cinematheque, the Reichsfilmarchiv (film archive of the Third Reich), the British Film Institute and the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
Apart from his work at ANIM, Tiago Baptista is a lecturer at the Portuguese Catholic University, a founding member of AIM – Association of Moving Image Researchers and was the editorial coordinator of Aniki: Revista Portuguesa da Imagem em Movimento. He holds a PhD in Film and Screen Media from Birkbeck, University of London, dedicating his research to the history of Portuguese cinema.
