Biography
She graduated in History from the NOVA School of Social Sciences and Humanities (2019) and is currently attending the Master’s in Management and Appreciation of Historical and Cultural Heritage, Specialisation in Artistic Heritage and Art History, at the University of Évora (2019-2021).
She participated in the Research Project on the Convent of São José, promoted by the Municipal Archive of Lagoa (2018) and was part of the Project to Safeguard the Historic Archive of Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lagoa (2020). She is a research fellow in the FCT funded project TRANSMAT — Transnational Materialities (1850-1930): Reconstituting collections and connecting histories (PTDC/FER-HFC/2793/2020).

The latest book authored by Irene Flunser Pimentel, about the informants of the Portuguese political police during Estado Novo, will be presented by Paulo Marques da Silva and Luís Reis Torgal in Coimbra.
Informadores da PIDE: Uma Tragédia Portuguesa
Esta obra analisa o modo como o regime ditatorial português do Estado Novo e a sua polícia política contaram com portugueses para denunciar outros, de que forma os recrutaram e porque aceitaram muitos colaborar com a polícia, prejudicando e destruindo vidas. Revela também que muitos se candidataram a informador da PIDE/DGS junto da tutela do Ministério do Interior ou de outros organismos do Estado, mas também que muitos menos foram aceites por essa polícia para o serem. Com recurso a exemplos, demonstra de que maneira uma cultura de denúncia abalou o sentido ético em Portugal, marcando a sua História de forma trágica.
