Short Biography

PhD and Integrated Researcher at the Portuguese “Institute of Contemporary History” (IHC) from the “Faculty of Social and Human Sciences of the New University of Lisbon” – Portugal (FCSH-UNL).  PhD thesis entitled The National Board of Scientific and Technological Research (1967-1974). Organization of Science and Science Policy in Portugal. Conducting a post-doc working program under the supervision of Professor Maria Fernanda Rollo and also under the co-supervision of Professor Benoît Godin, Professor Manuel Heitor and Professor Gilson Leandro Queluz – working program entitled The National Board of Scientific and Technological Research (JNICT, 1974-1997). Science Policy in Democracy. His research field is contemporary history, using historiographical methodology and stressing the historical perspective for a deeper and empirical understanding of science policy issues.

Academic Qualifications

From September 2002 to June 2006: Graduation (B.A.) in History (1st cycle graduation) – scientific branch. From October 2006 to July 2008: Frequency of a M.A. (2nd cycle graduation) in Contemporary History.

From October 2006 to July 2008: Realization of a "Project work"/ “study design” to obtain the degree of Master within the context of an M.A. (2nd cycle graduation) in Contemporary History. Final Grade: 19 values. Dissertation entitled: The National Board of Scientific and Technological Research (1967-1974). Organization of science and science policy in Portugal, under the supervision of Professor Maria Fernanda Rollo (Ph.D).

Since August 2008: Ph.D Canditate at Institute of Contemporary History (IHC), research unit of the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences, New University of Lisbon (FCSH-UNL) – Economic and Social Contemporary History specialization. Developing doctoral thesis entitled: The National Board of Scientific and Technological Research (1967-1974). Organization of science and science policy in Portugal, under the supervision of Professor Maria Fernanda Rollo (Ph.D).

From June 2008 to February 2011: Research collaborator at the Institute of Social Sciences (ICS), under the supervision of Professor Pedro Lains (Ph.D).

From April 2009: PhD grand holder of the Portuguese Science and Technology Foundation (FCT), under the supervision of Professor Maria Fernanda Rollo (Ph.D). ref. SFRH/BD/44334/2008. Title Thesis: The National Board of Scientific and Technological Research (1967-1974). Organization of science and science policy in Portugal Final grade 4,59 values (scale of 5) in the scientific domain of History and Archaeology.

From the 1st October 2011 till 1st January 2012: Visiting Researcher at Birkbeck University of London, supervised by Professor Luís Trindade (Ph.D) of the Department of Iberian and Latin American Studies.
