Edmundo Alves

Biography

Graduated in History from the NOVA FCSH. Integrated researcher of the IHC – NOVA FCSH and PhD student in the same University. Member of the Research Group on Comparative Political History – Regimes, Transitions, Colonialism and Memory, of the IHC.

He participated in several research projects like “A História da PIDE” and “Os Últimos Dias da PIDE”, RTP (television) documentaries by Professor Jacinto Godinho, and “História da UGT”, coordinated by Professor José Maria Brandão de Brito. He has collaborated in the “Dicionário Biográfico Parlamentar 1935-1974”, directed by Professors António Costa Pinto and Manuel Braga da Cruz, in the “Dicionário de História de Portugal”, coordinated by the Professors António Reis, Maria Inácia Rezola and Paula Borges Santos, and in the book “Património de Origem Portuguesa no Mundo. Arquitectura e Urbanismo”, coordinated by Professor José Mattoso. He presented several papers at scientific meetings focused on the monarchic movement of opposition to the Estado Novo and the right-wing politics at the end of the Estado Novo and during the transition to Democracy.
